Is It Essential To Invest Significantly In Plant And Wildlife Preservation?

The news that wildlife is in danger seems alarming...at first but drugged in the end. It doesn't matter if it's California condors, tigers, pandas, mountain gorillas, or corals.

Is worrying about them worth it? surely! If the cute pandas disappear, we will feel sad, but we don't count on them. However, it is more important to take care of humans than to spend millions on keeping animals.

The Cost of Preserving Wildlife and Plants Is Significant - Is It Necessary?

There are many reasons why we should not save endangered species. The staggering cost is the most obvious. Billions are spent annually preserving endangered wildlife rather than caring for the hungry, dying or sick. It is difficult to understand why the conservation of predators such as wolves and tigers poses a threat to livestock and humans.

In fact, extinction is natural, and what we are aware of is the disappearance of the dinosaurs 65 million years in the past. However, the species is fading out faster than ever. It has multiplied hundreds of times over the last century. Humans must be blamed. Fortunately, humans adore the natural world, and even wild animals are thought to be wonderful, majestic, and gentle.

The aesthetic value of beautiful nature is worth it, so some prefer it to be preserved just like the paintings and architecture. However, some people do not come into contact with animals or plants, which are fuzzy, unsightly, or smelly.

In Western countries, tigers are preserved because they look beautiful. In rural India, they are not welcomed because tigers are a threat to their families. You can see that everyone has their likes and dislikes, but practical reasons are needed to conserve endangered wildlife.

Practical reasons to invest in wildlife conservation

Nature provides a myriad of 'ecosystem services'

• Bioprospecting involves exploring nature to discover useful commercial products. New drugs can be discovered without going dangerous miles in the jungle with little hope of uncovering miraculous plant species.

• Furthermore, there is the issue of locals who are already familiar with the uses of medicinal plants and do not like strangers trying to identify them.

• The other dilemma is what happens to these species, and they are not useful. For example, it is impossible to use the blood of a mountain gorilla in the treatment of cancer.

• Fortunately, in 1990 biologists revealed that plants and animals benefit humans by being there. They provide "ecosystem services", which we take for granted.

• Services can be direct or indirect. For example, green plants and marine plankton provide pure oxygen, a direct and obvious service. On the other hand, bees pollinate insects that help many crop plants produce seeds, or they will not survive or provide us with food. Their services are subtle, so the decline of pollinating insects can be a concern.

Imagine if there were no plants on Earth, humans would need to engineer a chemical processing plant to produce oxygen and even water. If there is nothing to eat, then produce artificial food that is difficult to digest.

Will you be able to artificially create good microorganisms that live in your intestines? Instead of going through all the stress, it seems easier to let the current wildlife take care of it for us. The extension of ecosystem services extends unusually and enormously when everything is added up.

Strong ecotourism

• Wildlife conservation is not “nature per se”, but can be considered ethically as “nature for people” due to the concept of ecosystem services. Even if you don't care about wildlife, it holds great value for the ecotourism sector.

• If you take a selective approach to conservation, such as keeping things that attract tourists and leaving the rest to become extinct.

• However, for specific wildlife, a dense forest full of trees will be required, which cannot be ignored. It even means that you'll need to conserve other animals that will help shape the plant community.

• For many people who live near forests, plan safari vacations and take tourists to see wildlife. These people benefit from wildlife conservation. Running tours pay better than farming. Ecotourism is a way in which nature makes up for itself.

Maintains ecosystem stability and resilience

• You cannot separate two types of wildlife from the wider web. If you clear one species, it may not be a problem or it can lead to a domino effect that can change the entire ecosystem.

• Prediction is difficult! You can see if you allow the species to disappear only to find that it is too late to reverse the situation. Preserving the forest not only saves the wild species but also ensures a regular supply of water.

• We have seen the vagaries of the weather. Heavy rain means flooding, and little rain means drought. Both are life-threatening. The trees on the hills guarantee reliable fresh water
